Shoigu going to India on official visit
TEHRAN. Jan 20 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu has flown to India on an official visit following a visit to Iran.
The Russian defense minister is expected to hold talks with his Indian counterpart Manoharom Parrikar on January 21, Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told Interfax.
"The talks will deal with the current state of Russian-Indian military-technical cooperation and prospects for their development," Konashenkov said.
On the same day Shoigu will attend the 14th meeting of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission for military-technical cooperation.
"A package of agreements is expected to be signed after the meeting," he said.
"Shoigu is also expected to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Konashenkov said.
The Russian defense minister is to visit the BrahMos Aerospace Limited Russian-Indian defense company, he said, adding that Shoigu will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in the Indian capital city.
