No casualties as bridge explodes, train derails on border with Donbas
KYIV. Jan 20 (Interfax) - A railway bridge has been blown up on January 20 in the village of Kuznetsovka in the Rozovsky district of the Zaporizhzhya region on the border with the Donetsk region.
The blast led to the derailment of a freight train, the press service of the Pridniprovskaya Railway (Dnipropetrovsk) informed Interfax.
"The incident occurred on the Donetsk Railway line, but affected a freight train belonging to the Pridniprovskaya Railway, which was travelling from Kamysh Zarya to Sartana. It was carrying 5,000 tonnes of concentrate," the press service said.
The explosion was set off in front of the train at the 360th kilometer of the Kamysh Zarya - Rozovka line at about 3 p.m., which damaged the bridge, it said.
The driver used the emergency braking system but the train ran past the damaged rails and went off track. Twenty cars were derailed.
No casualties were reported. Experts are working at the scene,
Rail services on the Kamysh Zarya - Rozovka have been halted.
