Russian fishermen catch 1% more fish since Jan 1

MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - Russian fishermen have caught 170,500 tonnes of fish and other biological resources since the beginning of the year, which was 1% more, or 1,600 tonnes, than in the same period of last year.

Russian fishermen caught 16,600 tonnes of fish in international waters, which is 200 tonnes more than in the same period of 2014. In regions covered by conventions and in the open waters, the catch was up 100 tonnes at 400 tonnes.

Russian fisherman caught 4.216 million tonnes of fish in 2014, which was 1.9%, or 81,100 tonnes, more than in 2013. This includes sea biological resources of 4.069 million tonnes, down 2.2% year-on-year, and around 147,000 tonnes of freshwater.
