Four civilians killed in artillery attack on Stakhanov - Luhansk militia

LUHANSK. Jan 21 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army fired artillery at the town of Stakhanov in the Luhansk region overnight, killing four civilians, including a young girl, as a result, said Alexei Karyakin, the head chairman of the People's Council of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR).

"Four civilians, including a girl of five or six, a 19-year-old young man and two women were killed (in Stakhanov) today. About eight people are in critical condition and the whole hospital unit is overcrowded with the injured," Karyakin said on Wednesday, according to the Luhansk information center.

"The scale of cynicism of the Ukrainian government is shocking. While 'trumpeting' the readiness to stop hostilities, Poroshenko is giving orders to fire artillery at residential quarters," Karyakin said.

He expressed condolences to the families and friends of those killed during the shelling of Stakhanov.
