Eyewitnesses say mortars fired at Donetsk bus stop

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - Eyewitnesses claim that mortars were used in an attack on a public transport stop in Donetsk on Thursday morning, the Donetsk News Agency reported.

"Five shots resembling mortar strikes were heard," a local resident said.

The Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) reported earlier that nine people had been killed in an explosion near a public transport stop in Donetsk.

"An hour and a half ago, an explosion occurred in the Bosse district. The preliminary information available indicates that nine people were killed and another three were injured. A tram and a bus were damaged," director of the DPR Defense Ministry's political department Eduard Basurin told reporters.
