Militia claims to have saved 17 Ukrainian soldiers trapped under Donetsk airport debris

DONETSK. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) defense ministry has claimed to have rescued 17 Ukrainian servicemen, "ex-cyborgs", trapped under Donetsk airport debris.

"We have cleared debris and rescued 17 men. They are alive because we have helped them. Yet Kyiv thanked us for rescuing them by bombing the Bosse district," ministry political department chief Eduard Basurin told reporters.

Nine persons died and three were injured in the Ukrainian army's bombardment of a public transport stop in Donetsk on January 22.
