Moscow doesn't deem National Coalition refusal to join consultations dramatic - source

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The refusal of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces (NCSROF) to join Syrian opposition consultations in Moscow is not a tragedy, as the level of the opposition's representation will be good enough, a Russian diplomat told Interfax.

"The NCSROF has refused to attend and made an official statement to that effect. Moscow sent individual invitations. The National Coalition does not represent the entire opposition so their refusal to come here should not be seen as a tragedy. That's their problem," he said.

"The Syrian opposition will be represented on a rather serious level. Many serious entities backed by their supporters, people, primarily those living in Syria, have confirmed they will make an appearance," the source said.

Yet a final list of participants in the inter-Syrian consultations will be available by the time the consultations begin, he added.

As reported earlier, Syrian opposition forces will hold consultations in Moscow on January 26-29.
