Education and Science Ministry supports cooperation with EU without propaganda

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Education and Science Ministry is ready for humanitarian cooperation with the European Union but opposed to possible propaganda on students.

"Against the backdrop of EU-Russia economic cooperation shrinking at the EU's initiative, collaboration in humanitarian affairs, including education, should not just be prevented from contracting but even expanded. This is the purpose of propositions of the Education and Science Ministry to colleagues in the EU Delegation to Russia," head of the Education and Science Ministry's information policy department, press secretary Anna Usacheva told reporters on Thursday.

However, the ministry deems a "propaganda impact" impermissible on students of higher education establishments at their meetings with EU representatives.

"Cooperation in humanitarian matters must not be substituted by propaganda on the minds of young persons which has happened at such events from time to time," Usacheva said.
