Social degradation result of ignorance of humanist achievements - Naryshkin
MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has said that many social problems were the result of disregard for the achievements of the mankind.
"Disregard for humanist achievements of mankind leads to the degradation of society, rise in nihilism and conflicts, general decline of confidence," the speaker said during Christmas parliamentary meetings in the lower house on Thursday.
"As a result, the notorious double standards have arisen and are thriving, allowing for mercy and compassion, objectivity and honesty to be manifested on a case-by-case basis only, depending on the circumstances," the speaker said.
All this leads "to harsh consequences, the most terrible of which are wars that bring deaths and broken lives to whole generations," he said.
"I see the duty of responsible politicians and parliamentarians in preventing such scenarios in every possible way," he said
"No wonder last year it was parliamentary diplomacy that was targeted by those intent on holding absolute power by creating zones of chaos in various regions of the planet," Naryshkin said.
