Sixteen civilians killed by Ukraine army strikes in Donbas in past 24 hours - DPR
DONETSK. Jan 23 (Interfax) - The Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has reported that Ukrainian government forces shelled the self-proclaimed republic's territory 15 times last night.
"Fifteen instances of shelling were registered last night, and 34 in the past 24 hours. In particular, Horlivka and Donetsk came under fire," Eduard Basurin, director of the political department of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic's (DPR) Defense Ministry, told reporters on Friday.
Three civilians were killed and another six were injured as a result of strikes last night, he said.
"In the past 24 hours, 16 civilians have been killed and another 18 have been injured," he said.
The militia sustained heavy losses as well, Basurin said.
"We saw the largest loss of personnel - 24 people were killed and another 30 were injured," he said.
