Russia edges power generation up 0.1% in 2014 - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Russia generated 1.059 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2014, 0.1% mote than in 2013, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Nuclear plants produced 181 billion kWh in 2014, up 4.8%, while hydropower plants produced 175 billion kWh, down 4.1%, and thermal power plants - 703 billion kWh, as much as in 2013.

Output grew 3.3% year-on-year in December alone. Hydropower plants produced 23.3% less electricity in December, while thermal power plants increased production 11.5% and nuclear plants reduced it 4.6% year-on-year.

Russia generated 1.3 billion Gcal of heat in 2014. Thermal plants produced 590 million Gcal, up 0.5%, boiler plants - 627 million Gcal, down 1.3%, and industrial recovery units 74.7 million Gcal, down 0.6%.

Heat output grew 3.4% year-on-year in December alone, rising 5.6% at thermal power plants and 0.8% at boiler plants, but falling 1% at industrial recovery units.
