U.S. already advising Kyiv - Russian deputy foreign minister of Poroshenko U.S. peace talks idea

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Commenting on the proposal by Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko to get the Untied States involved in international peace talks on Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin has said that the U.S. is already giving advice to the government in Kyiv.

"It is difficult to comment on multiple claims by President Poroshenko, especially of this kind, because the Americans have long been giving their advice to Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk," he told reporters.

"U.S. Vice President Biden is talking to Kyiv weekly, if not daily. Normally, these talks are followed by escalation and more bloodshed," the Russian diplomat claimed.

"I think the advice Petro Oleksiyovych (Poroshenko) should be given now is to think about his own responsibility as the leader of the Ukrainian state for what is happening in his country, if he considers the Donetsk and Luhansk republics part of Ukraine," Karasin said.

"He has never been shy with his grand statements about what Ukraine is and what its future is like, but now is the time to make decisions that will really push forward the peace process in eastern Ukraine," the Russian diplomat said.
