Energoatom, Holtec sign supplement to contract on spent nuclear fuel storage facilty

KYIV. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Energoatom and Holtec International of the United States have signed a supplement to a contract on the construction of centralized storage for spent nuclear fuel in Ukraine.

Energoatom's press service said the supplement was signed by Energoatom Head Yuriy Nedashkovsky and Holtec International Head Kris Singh in Brussels on January 26.

It states that the design and construction of the storage facility will be carried out by Energoatom, while special equipment and technology for the dry storage of spent nuclear fuel and its transportation will be supplied by Holtec.

The supplement provides for the development by the American company of equipment for the dry storage and transportation of spent nuclear fuel, and the commissioning of technologies developed by the company.
