Baltic Fleet frigate Yaroslav Mudry leaves Syria's Tartous port
KALININGRAD. Jan 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Baltic Fleet frigate Yaroslav Mudry has left the Syrian port of Tartous for a designated area in the Mediterranean Sea, the fleet press service reported.
While in Tartous, the ship replenished its reserves and the crewmembers took some rest on the shore.
In addition, the sailors performed maintenance works and examined the ship.
The frigate Yaroslav Mudry departed from the main base of the Baltic Fleet, Baltiysk, on August 9, 2014. Since then it has covered a distance exceeding 23,000 nautical miles and paid visits to the Spanish exclave of Ceuta on the Mediterranean coast of Africa, the Valetta port of Malta, the Karachi port of Pakistan, the Jakarta port of Indonesia, the Pinang port of Malaysia, the Colombo port of Sri Lanka and the Salalah port of Oman.
A key task of the ship's voyage is to demonstrate the St. Andrew's flag and to assist in the protection of Russian vessels and other types of Russian maritime economic activities.
