Russia to bolster groups of forces in strategic areas - defense minister
MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry's plan of action for 2015, confirmed by the defense minister on December 19, 2014, has been adjusted bearing in mind the authorities' decisions to bolster the Russian Armed Forces' potential in response to the current military and political situation around Russia, Defense Minister Gen. Sergei Shoigu has said.
"For these purposes, we plan to bolster groups of forces in strategic areas," he said at a meeting of the ministry's board on Friday.
"We have also adjusted the targets of equipping with Armed Forces with advanced weapons and military hardware. Programs to build garrisons and military infrastructure have been adjusted as well," he said.
"All steps of this plan have been synchronized in terms of volume and deadlines," he said.
"The director of the Main Operations Department and General Staff deputy chief, Lt. Gen. Andrei Kartapolov, will inform the board members of the adjustments made to the Russian Defense Ministry's Plan of Action for 2015 and the course of forming groups of forces in strategic areas," Shoigu said.
