Ukrainian army reports shelling in Donbas

KYIV. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Artillery fired upon Ukrainian army positions in Donbas, including Debaltseve, in the early hours of Monday morning, Ukrainian army spokesman Leonid Matyukhyn said.

He said army positions were also shelled in Nikishyne, Chornukhyne and Zolote.

The militia mounted an offensive in the Leninske area but "the army returned fire and they had to retreat," Matyukhyn told Interfax on Monday morning.

Vodyane, Tonenke, Novomykhailivsk and Pisky were attacked in the Donetsk sector.

Grad rocket launchers were used in attacks on Shchastya and Vilkhova in the Luhansk sector, and other types of weapons attacked Stanitsa Luhanska, Stary Aidar, Sokilnyky and Trekhizbenka.

The Ukrainian army has lost 180 men and 248 have been wounded over the past day, Matyukhyn said.
