Four residents of Northern Caucasus are fighting in Syria - Interior Ministry

PYATIGORSK. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Officials from the Interior Ministry's Main Department for the Northern Caucasus Federal District have identified the Russians who are fighting on the side of illegal military groups in Syria, the agency's press service has reported.

"All of those four men are residents of the Northern Caucasus republics," the report says.

According to the Interior Ministry's Main Department for the Northern Caucasus Federal District, a 24-year-old resident of the village of Gikalo, Grozny region of Chechnya, in October 2013 involved three residents of Ingushetia in illegal military groups.

"Since then and until now they have been fighting against the Syrian government forces," the press service reported.

A probe is underway.
