Georgian budget deficit 0.9% of spending in 2014

TBILISI. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Georgia finished the 2014 with a budget deficit of 70.5 million lari ($34.3 million at the current rate), or 0.9% of spending, the Finance Ministry told Interfax.

Budget revenues were up 7.9% at 7.377 billion lari while spending increased 13.8% to 7.448 billion lari (2.0557 lari/$1 on Feb. 2).

Tax revenue totaled 6.847 billion lari in 2014, up 8.9%. The budget also received 246.3 million lari in grants, up 3.1%, while other revenues decreased 9.3% to 283.9 million lari.

The 2013 budget was carried out with revenues of 6.808 billion lari, and spending of 6.515 billion lari. The surplus totaled 293.6 million lari, or 4.3% of revenues and 1.1% of GDP.

Georgia's 2015 budget has been approved with a surplus of 0.4% of projected GDP. Revenue is planned at 8.09 billion lari, and spending at 8.005 billion lari.
