UTair says Russians abducted in Darfur are its employees

TYUMEN. Feb 3 (Interfax) - The airline UTair has confirmed the abduction of two employees in Darfur, Sudan.

'Two employees of the airline UTair working under a contract with the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) were abducted by unknown persons in the town of Zalingei, Sudan, at around 10:30 a.m. on January 29. The UNAMID mini-bus was trapped by six vehicles. The passengers had to get off the bus at gunpoint and were taken away in an unknown direction," the report said.

The airline UTair together with UNAMID representatives and diplomatic missions continues the search for its missing employees and takes the utmost efforts towards that end. There have been no demands made by the abductors as of yet, the report said.
