Ukrainian army reports heavy gunfire in Luhansk sector
KYIV. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Militia attacks on Ukrainian army positions happened all through last night, the Ukrainian army operation press center said on Tuesday morning.
The press center said the strikes focused on the Luhansk sector. There were three Grad rocket launcher attacks on the villages of Verkhnya Vilkhova and Artyom in the Stanitsa Luhanska district and the town of Shchastya. The villages of Krymske, Sokilnyky and Trekhizbenka in the Novoaidar district and Verkhnya Vilkhova were shelled by mortars. Trekhizbenka was also put under artillery and mortar fire, the press center said.
Artillery struck Stanitsa Luhanska where the Ukrainian army engaged in a clash with the militia. The press center said the enemy suffered losses and had to retreat.
Grad rocket launchers hit the town of Nevelske and the village of Vodyane in the Yasynuvata district, and mortars attacked the town of Kranohorivka in the Mariinka district and the villages of Pisky and Nevelske in the Yasynuvata district. There were four artillery attacks on the village of Tonenke in the Yasynuvata district, and Pisky, Vodyane and Nevelske were hit too. Light firearms twice struck the town of Verkhnotoretske in the Yasynuvata district, the press center said.
The shelling of Pisky "went on day and night," the report said.
In the Debaltseve sector, there have been grenade attacks on Ukrainian army positions near the town of Novhorodske, and mortars hit the outskirts of Debaltseve. Light firearms struck on the village of Novohryhoryevka in the Volnovakha district, the press center said.
Militia artillery struck the village of Hranytne in the Telman district.
