Militia dismiss Ukraine's 7-hour truce offer in Debaltseve as "military trick"
MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Militias in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) have accused Kyiv of trying to get their troops out of Debaltseve under the guise of civilian evacuation.
"Kyiv did suggest announcing peace for just seven hours from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. However, by using this truce, it aimed to get its encircled troops out under a pretext of civilian evacuation, but in fact no one was going to move civilians anywhere," LPR's Minsk negotiator Vladislav Deinego told Interfax on Tuesday.
The LPR is interested in a lasting truce, but Kyiv is not keen on it yet, he said.
"What is a seven-hour truce? It is giving a respite to the enemy. Here is our suggestion: let's declare an indefinite truce, and no one will have to move anyone anywhere. But Kyiv would not accept it. But it won't outwit us either," Deinego said.
