Kyiv yet to officially notify Moscow on foreign-travel passports switch - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - Moscow has not yet received official notification from Kyiv on its decision to switch to foreign-travel passports in crossing the Ukrainian-Russian border by citizens of the two countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

"We have not yet received official notification from the Ukrainian side," it said.

"It looks like the matter references Ukraine's decision to abandon a convenient and liberal way of Russian citizens' travel to Ukraine, which is stipulated by the valid agreement between the Russian and Ukrainian government on visa-free travel of Russian and Ukrainian citizens dated January 16, 1997 and a protocol of October 30, 2004 amending the said agreement," the Foreign Ministry said.
