Putin, Security Council discuss Ukraine situation
NOVO-OGARYOVO. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and the permanent members of the Russian Security Council (SC) have discussed the situation in southeastern Ukraine, including in the context of a meeting with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel due this Friday.
"Putin held an emergency meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council. A detailed discussion was held on the situation in southeastern Ukraine, including in the context of tomorrow's meeting with French President Holland and German Chancellor Merkel," the Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
The meeting was attended by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, presidential administration chief Sergei Ivanov, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Federal Security Service chief Alexander Bortnikov, Foreign Intelligence Service chief Mikhail Fradkov and SC member Boris Gryzlov.
