Russia boosts gold production 16% to 288 tonnes in 2014
MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Gold production in Russia amounted to 287.978 tonnes in 2014, the Finance Ministry said, quoting data about supplies to Russian gold refineries.
Production of mined gold amounted to 232.185 tonnes, by-product gold - 16.88 tonnes and secondary gold - 38.913 tonnes.
This is the first time the Finance Ministry has disclosed this sort of information. The Russian Gold Producers' Union has said gold production in Russia, excluding the export of gold-containing concentrates, was 254.241 tonnes in 2013. So, in 2014, gold production rose by 16%. Production of ingots from mined gold rose 8.5%, from byproduct gold - 5.5% and secondary gold - 119%.
The Finance Ministry said Russia produced more than 1,047 tonnes of silver last year, including 510.272 tonnes, of mined silver, 287.978 tonnes of byproduct and 249.139 tonnes of secondary silver.
