Kerry calls for immediate ceasefire in east Ukraine

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Russia will be judged by its actions and will have to pay a big price if the attacks continue, the United States Secretary of State John Kerry wrote on Twitter after meeting with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Munich last Saturday.

Kerry made it clear to Foreign Minister Lavrov that de-escalation in east Ukraine is in everyone's interests, he also tweeted.

During his meeting with Lavrov Kerry stressed the need for resumption of ceasefire, removal of heavy weaponry and closure of borders with Ukraine, the state secretary said.

Lavrov and Kerry met on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday.
