Kazakh president: prevention of inflation and sharp exchange fluctuations - national bank priority
ASTANA. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has instructed the national bank to prevent inflation growth and sharp exchange rate fluctuations with the national currency.
Financial stability under the conditions of low oil prices and an economic slowdown must become priority for the national bank; this is about the prevention of high inflation and sharp tenge exchange rate fluctuations, provisions of finances for the real sector of the economy, Nazarbayev said at a government meeting on Wednesday in Astana.
The head of the national bank reported to me that all required measures were being taken to solve these issues and I have no reasons not to trust the national bank, the president said.
In addition, the president urged ordinary people to disbelieve rumors.
To this end Nazarbayev said he had warned previously that under such difficult circumstances those who spread provocative rumors and insinuations should be brought to justice and repeated that the country's leadership would conceal nothing from the general public and overcome difficulties together with the people.
