Rosatom expects to sign contract to build Egypt nuclear plant in 2015

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Rosatom expects to sign the contract on construction of a nuclear power plant in Egypt at the end of 2015, a source at the state corporation told Interfax.

"The contract will be signed at the end of 2015," the source said, adding that although the Egyptian contract will definitely be signed, there was no clarity as to when work would begin.

"We could begin this year, but how it will all unfold is unclear," the source said.

Rosatom expects to begin pre-design work on the Egyptian nuclear power plant in 2015. "We anticipate that this year, at the end of this year to begin initial implementation of these projects, that is, surveying and pre-design work," he said.

The four blocks of the nuclear power plant will cost about $20 billion.
