Ukrainian Defense Ministry plans new purchases of military hardware

KYIV. Feb 13 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Defense Ministry plans to purchase more than 2,000 items of military hardware in 2015, Deputy Defense Minister Petro Mekhed said.

"The Ukrainian Defense Ministry plans to buy 89 various items and weaponry and 2,000 items of other military hardware in 2015," Mekhed said at a news briefing on Friday.

The Ukrainian armed forces have already commissioned 12 items, among them an automated jamming system, a Mi-8MSB-8 landing and transport helicopter, a Su-27-type warplane and a trainer, pistols and assault rifles, and an Antonov An-70 military transport plane, he said.
