Self-proclaimed Donetsk republic insists on discussing amendments to Ukrainian constitution
MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - The leaderships of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR) propose starting to discuss concrete amendments to the Ukrainian constitution at the next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group.
"Considering that a reform should to be conducted as early as in 2015, the DPR and LPR propose starting a substantive dialogue on the necessary amendments to the Ukrainian constitution already now, that is, at the next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group," DPR envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group talks in Minsk Denis Pushilin told Interfax on Saturday.
"The package of measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements adopted by the parties on February 12 implies that, for the conflict in Ukraine to be fully settled, a true constitutional reform should be prepared and carried out, resulting in the governance system's comprehensive decentralization," he said.
