Twitter formally notified by watchdog over consistent failure to comply with Russian law

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) has sent a formal request to the Twitter administration, asking it to explain the social networking website's consistent failure to comply with Russian law.

"On February 13 we sent a formal request to the Twitter company. So far there has been no reply from the social networking site," the agency's spokesman Vadim Ampelonsky told Interfax on Tuesday.

In particular, Twitter has been asked to explain its consistent failure to comply with the Russian anti-extremism laws, he said.
