GAZ Group in Q2 to begin supplies of automobiles to Balkans

NIZHNY NOVGOROD/MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - GAZ Group has concluded a distribution agreement with Serbia's Verano Motors about the sale of GAZelle Next automobiles on the territory of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia, the group's press service said.

"GAZ Group signed an agreement with Verano Motors to sell the NEXT family vehicles in the states of the South-Eastern Europe. Start of sales of the Euro-5 GAZelle NEXT LCV's is planned for Q2 2015. At the beginning they will be sold by nine dealer centers. Verano Motors will also sell AWD GAZelle Business and Sobol Business vehicles," the group said in a statement.

"Signing an agreement with a new partner is a part of our strategy to extend sales to the non-CIS export markets. In 2014, we started producing and selling GAZelle Next in Turkey, obtained the unified European certificate confirming that our vehicles meet all the EU requirements. I am sure that the customers of the South-Eastern Europe will appreciate the high functionality and reliability of our vehicles which have the best price in its class," the statement cited GAZ President Vadim Sorokin as saying.

"Verano Motors is a part of one of the major Balkan groups - Verano Group. It has been the official dealer of Peugeot in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina since1996. Training and certification of salespersons and service specialists for GAZ vehicles are currently in process in the dealer centers of the Republic of Serbia,Montenegro, the Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina," the statement said.

The GAZ Group produces light and medium commercial vehicles, buses, heavy trucks, passenger cars, powertrains and automobile components. The group brings together 13 enterprises in eight Russian regions. The majority shareholder of the company is the Russian Machines holding which belongs to the diversified industrial group Basic Element.
