Russia may help Hungary build one more nuclear plant - Rosatom chief

BUDAPEST. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The chief executive of Russia's Rosatom corporation said on Tuesday that he "can't exclude the possibility" that Rosatom will help Hungary build a new nuclear power plant in addition to two new generating units that are under construction at the current plant.

"I can't exclude the possibility that, when we demonstrate high safety standards in building the two new units at the Paks plant, the Hungarian government will decide on building a new plant," Sergei Kiriyenko said.

He said the new Paks units would be based on new, so-called "post-Fukushima," technology. "We forecast a 100-year reliability for these units," Kiriyenko said.

He said the work of designing and building the units had been on schedule.
