Head of LPR calls success of Kyiv Maidan "Pyrrhic victory"
LUHANSK. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Igor Plotnitsky, the head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), said Ukraine has paid a high price for the victory of the Kyiv Maidan a year ago.
"What they now call victory [the February 2014 coup in Kyiv] is more likely a Pyrrhic victory," Plotnitsky told a briefing in Luhansk on Wednesday.
Plotnitsky said Ukraine has paid a high price for the February coup. "The results of the 'Maidan victory are clear. [Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko is now digging pits - these are the results. They honored the 'Heavenly Hundred,' but they now have thousands of deaths [in Donbas]," Plotnitsky said.
