Russia must provide access to int'l monitors in Ukrainian conflict zone - Pentus-Rosimannus
TALLINN. Feb 19 (Interfax) - Estonian Foreign Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus has called for observing a ceasefire in Ukraine and urged Russia to provide access to international monitors in the conflict area.
"The latest developments have shown that Russia and the separatists whom it controls haven't observed the armistice and have continued military activities," the Estonian Foreign Ministry shared Pentus-Rosimannus' remarks on the matter with Interfax on Wednesday.
"Russia and the separatists have failed to fulfill their commitments to provide the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission with access to the conflict region," Pentus-Rosimannus said with reference to OSCE reports.
"We urge Russia to ensure the monitoring mission's unimpeded and safe access, including to Debaltseve," she said.
The Estonian minister called for immediately stopping the ceasefire violation and starting the withdrawal of heavy hardware in keeping with the Minsk agreements.
"This is an essential precondition for a political resolution," she said.
"If the Minsk agreement is not abided by, the European Union should take extra pressure measures in relation to Russia," she said.
