Russian humanitarian convoy to leave for Donbas in next 24 hours
MOSCOW. Feb 19 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is sending an additional humanitarian convoy to Donbas to take humanitarian aid to residents of Debaltseve, where the humanitarian situation is very difficult now, the ministry press service told Interfax.
"The Emergency Situations Ministry's convoy carrying humanitarian cargo will leave for Donetsk and Luhansk in the next 24 hours. From there, the cargo will be taken to Debaltseve and some other populated areas, which are now short of food and essentials," the source said.
The local authorities are now urgently deploying public canteens and points to collect humanitarian aid there.
"The Emergency Situations Ministry humanitarian convoy will stabilize the situation ad prevent a humanitarian catastrophe," the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
Cargo is now being formed in the Rostov region. "Some of the humanitarian assistance will now be flown to Rostov-on-Don on Emergency Situations Ministry planes. It will be put into the vehicles that will be joined to the convoy," the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
