Rosoboronexport refutes Yak-130 deliveries to Syria, Bangladesh

BANGALORE. Feb 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Rosoboronexport had actually planned contracts for the delivery of Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainers to Bangladesh and Syria but made no such deliveries, head of the Rosoboronexport delegation to the Aero India 2015 international show Sergei Goreslavsky told reporters on Thursday.

"We have been offering these planes to many countries, and we are closest to fulfilling [a contract] with Bangladesh," he said.

It was reported earlier that Russia would deliver 36 Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainers to Syria. The contract value was unofficially assessed at approximately $550 million. Besides, a contract for the delivery of 26 Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainers was signed with Bangladesh.

The Yakovlev Design Bureau, a business unit of Corporation Irkut, designed the Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainer. The first foreign buyer was Algeria, which procured 16 planes. The delivery has been fully accomplished.
