Donbas militia reports over 50 shelling incidents overnight

DONETSK. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) militia has reported an overnight surge in Ukrainian artillery attacks, the Novorossiya front headquarters told Interfax on Friday.

"Tensions persisted in Novorossiya last night. The intensity of attacks on the positions of the Donetsk People's Republic militia has grown sharply," the headquarters said.

According to the headquarters, Ukraine conducted 51 attacks in the Donetsk sector over the past day (the shelling intensity grew 2.5 times compared to the previous day). There were four rocket launcher attacks and 32 attacks by cannon artillery.

"DPR army positions in the Donetsk airport were shelled 23 times in the past 24 hours [a three time increase], for instance, there were twelve artillery attacks," the headquarters said.
