National Guard, volunteers and regional police to help maintain order in Kyiv

KYIV. Feb 20 (Interfax) - More than 2,000 police personnel, as well as servicemen of other law enforcement agencies and volunteers will be deployed in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv as part of measures to maintain public order and prevent terrorist attacks, Kyiv police garrison chief Oleksandr Tereshchuk has said.

According to the Kyiv police press service, soldiers of the Ukrainian National Guard, representatives of public organizations and combined police units from other parts of the country will help Kyiv police maintain security in the city.

"The main task facing law enforcers is to prevent possible terrorist acts, crimes involving the illegal sale of weapons and other serious offences. Representatives of public organizations and formations will crack down on petty crimes," the press service said.
