Yevpatoria space infrastructure to be overhauled before 2020

YEVPATORIA. Feb 22 (Interfax) - The Separate Command and Measuring Complex in Yevpatoria is to get new equipment before 2020, says Lt. Gen. Alexander Golovka, the commander of the Russian Aerospace Defense Troops.

"The defense minister has approved a roadmap to 2020, concerning the development of this military base. It sets aside a funding to build up new equipment and train personnel," he told reporters on Saturday.

"This base has great prospects as it is very conveniently located and is already making contribution to national defenses," Golovko said.

The Complex uses a unique radio telescope, RT-70. It has a mirror diameter of 70 meters and stands over 2,500 square meters. It has no foreign analogue.
