LPR calls for Contact Group meeting to discuss heavy arms withdrawal
MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) calls for the soonest possible meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, LPR chief negotiator Vladislav Deinego told Interfax on Tuesday.
"First and foremost, the meeting in Minsk is necessary for looking into progress in the withdrawal of heavy armaments. We have been withdrawing them [the armaments] since February 17, but Ukraine has yet to begin the withdrawal," Deinego said.
The fulfillment of other provisions of the Minsk deal may also be discussed at the Contact Group meeting, he said.
"The package of measures signed at the previous meeting in Minsk envisages certain steps, such as the formation of working groups to support the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements. All these issues need to be discussed and worked on," Deinego said.
