Suicide of Nazarbayev's former son-in-law officially confirmed - Kazakh Foreign Ministry

ASTANA. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The Austrian Justice Ministry has officially, verbally confirmed that Rakhat Aliyev, former son-in-law of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, committed suicide in a one-man cell in Vienna's Josefstadt prison, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry press service has reported.

"We believe that the Austrian authorities will investigate what has happened. Our diplomatic mission will be in contact with the Austrian officials to clarify all circumstances," the ministry said in a report released on Tuesday.
