Moscow to host most representative Jewish congress in 15 years

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - The sixth congress of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FEOR) is due to open at the Jewish Community Center in Moscow this Thursday.

"The congress is expected to be the most representative in the last 15 years, gathering delegates from 178 Russian cities, as well as guests from Jewish communities from the other CIS countries and beyond, charity representatives and diplomats," a FEOR spokesperson said.

The attendees will discuss countering xenophobia and anti-Semitism, the work of Jewish communities in the field of education and social services, youth policies, and the near-term prospects of Russia's Jewish community.

"The Federation is our country's largest centralized structure designed to coordinate Jewish communities' efforts to revive the spiritual traditions and the way of Jewish religious and national life in all Russian regions. Intensive work is carried out on education, culture and charity under the FEOR aegis," the spokesperson said.
