Russia to help Cyprus deal with effects of debt crisis - Putin
NOVO-OGARYOVO. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Russia will continue rendering financial support to Cyprus, President Vladimir Putin has said.
"Russia will continue rendering assistance to Cyprus in dealing with the effects of the debt crisis," Putin said at a joint press conference with President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis.
Putin reminded journalists that Russia assigned a major stabilization loan in the amount of 2.5 billion euro to Cyprus and restructured the loan at more advantageous terms.
"Besides this VTB Capital together with the Finance Ministry of Cyprus has successfully conducted the placement of sovereign Cypriot bonds for 750 million euro - the first one after the crisis," Putin said.
In his opinion, in this way Russia is making "its positive contribution to normalizing the situation in the Eurozone after the troubled period of 2011-2013."
