Troops counter mock enemy's air raid in Nizhny Novgorod region
MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Artillery crews from the Western Military District (WMD) countered air raids and sabotage attacks by a mock enemy during military drills in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"In particular, the troops countered sabotage reconnaissance groups and airborne weapons of the mock enemy," the WMD said in a press release obtained by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
The command post exercise, which began in the region a day earlier, involves around 200 troops and over 30 pieces of combat and special equipment from the WMD artillery division, the spokesperson said.
During the drill, the troops practiced tactical repositioning and setting up command stations under field conditions.
The personnel and equipment were redeployed to the training area "on a sudden signal," the spokesperson said.
"During the exercise, the personnel will practice tactical control algorithms at the army-division level. The exercise is being supervised by the commander of the combined-arms force and will end on February 28," the spokesperson said.
