Ukraine to have only intl checkpoints on shared Russian border from March 16 - Yatsenyuk

KYIV. March 4 (Interfax) - It will be possible to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border only through international checkpoints controlled by Kyiv from March 16, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

"Today the government will decide to repeal the local border traffic agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. From March 16, it will be possible to cross the state border exclusively through international checkpoints fully controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. The Ukrainian side repeals the local border traffic agreement between Ukraine and Russia," the premier said in his opening remarks at a government meeting on Wednesday.

"This is the question of national security and control over movement of citizens," Yatsenyuk said.
