Russia, Cambodia to jointly combat poaching in fishing

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - Russia and Cambodia intend to jointly combat poaching in fishing and to sign an agreement on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

The Russian Federal Fisheries Agency's press service said that relevant memorandum was signed with Cambodian Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry as part of the eighth meeting of the Russian-Cambodian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

"The memorandum was aimed at the development of cooperation in the sphere of the maintenance, management and the rational use of live marine resources," the statement said.

Russia has signed an agreement on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing with South Korea, North Korea, China and Japan. This international cooperation is aimed at combating poaching in the field of fishing and the illegal turnover of products from water biological resources, the press release said.
