Criminal case launched in relation to abduction of two Russians in Sudan - Investigative Committee
MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The Investigative Committee of Russia has launched a criminal case in relation to the abduction of two Russian citizens in Sudan, spokesman for the committee Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Wednesday.
"Investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee in the Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous district have launched a criminal case under p. 2 of Article 126 of the Russian Criminal Code (the abduction two or more persons involving violence)," Markin said.
Markin reminded Interfax that on January 29 "on the territory of the Republic of Sudan unidentified persons acting in line with a preliminary plan, using firearms and threatening to use violence abducted two Russian citizens - a manager of UTair airlines and a technician of UTair-Engineering who were staying in Sudan under contract."
"After abducting the Russian citizens the unidentified attackers took them to an unknown destination and their whereabouts are still unknown," Markin said.
"Investigative steps aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the offense are now being taken," he said.
