Sanctions, border control not discussed at Normandy Quartet meeting in Berlin - Russian diplomat
BERLIN. March 6 (Interfax) - The participants in a Normandy Quartet meeting in Berlin on Friday did not discuss sanctions or control on the Russian-Ukrainian border, says Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and State Secretary Grigory Karasin.
"We didn't discuss either sanctions or the border, because these subjects have been invented artificially. It's not we who have introduced the sanctions, and it's not for us to discuss when they are going to be lifted," Karasin said in commenting on the outcomes of the Berlin talks.
"As concerns control over the border, I would recommend revisiting the Minsk documents. They mention all conditions on which we can talk about the reestablishment of the Ukrainian authorities' control over the Russian-Ukrainian border sections that are currently not controlled by Kyiv," he said.
"These conditions are quite clear," he said.
"They are related to a political process, the organization of local elections, and a peace process in Ukraine," he said.
