Spain thanks Russia for child adoption treaty - foreign minister
MOSCOW. March 10 (Interfax) - Madrid is grateful to Moscow for signing a bilateral treaty that allows Spanish citizens to adopt children from Russia, Spain's Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo has said.
"As far as our bilateral relations are concerned, first and foremost, I would like to ask you to tell [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin that the Spanish side is grateful for the signing of a bilateral treaty on child adoption," Garcia-Margallo said at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday.
The Spanish authorities see "Russia as a great country and realize that it is impossible to resolve different conflicts, including those in Syria and Libya, without its participation," he said.
Spain is pleased that "Russian tourists continue arriving in this country despite the economic crisis," Garcia-Margallo said.
