DPR appoints new head of Donetsk police

DONETSK. March 11 (Interfax) - Colonel Vasily Goryachev has been appointed head of the Donetsk police, the Interior Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donets People's Republic (DPR), said on Wednesday.

"The interior minister has issued a decree appointing Police Colonel Vasily Goryachev to this post," the Donetsk News Agency quoted the DPR Interior Ministry as saying on Wednesday.

The new head of the city police has been appointed because his predecessor, Nikolai Kryuchenko, was appointed deputy interior minster of the DPR, the agency said.

Goryachev began his service in the interior affairs bodies in 1991 as an operations officer. He served in the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's criminal search department and had top posts in district departments of the Interior Ministry's Donetsk city department.
